The Search For The Ideal Video Game Console

This short article will compare the top 3 best selling consoles available for purchase in the market. Each console has its own unique feature. I hoped that after you have read this article, you will have a better idea on which console to choose. I will do an overview of each console and provide my recommendation at the end.

  • Xbox 360

This console was first introduced into the gaming industry in mid-2005 by Microsoft. In 2010, a slimmer version of it was made available to the public. You can choose between a 4GB or 250GB console.

The 360 features a solid WI-FI connection which provides you with internet access aside from gaming. The inclusion of the Sky Player is what makes this console stand out from the rest.

The Sky Player allows people who are subscribed to the Sky network to view programmes through the console. Therefore, they don’t need to turn on another computer to watch them. All they need is their Xbox 360 which is truly convenient.

Another awesome feature that makes this console an ultimate entertainment machine is the presence of an online movie store that allows users to download or rent movies to watch with their gaming console.

With the WI-FI capability, you can get in touch with your friends through Facebook, play demo games and finally, get your friends involved in multiplayer games too.

The Xbox 360 offers the biggest number of game titles covering a broader spectrum of genre compared to the other 2 consoles which are discussed in the ensuing paragraphs.

  • Sony PlayStation 3

Sony PlayStation 3 is the perfect choice for people who are looking for some serious gaming experience. In terms of game titles and genre, the PS3 has the least among the 3 consoles. Moreover, the game genres which are covered by the console are more tightly focused around a few genres.

Therefore, it will appeal more to people who are already used to that style of gaming. An outstanding feature that you can find in this console is the inclusion of Blu-Ray disc drive. It is the only video game console with this feature.

However, it is also the most expensive gaming device because of this added feature. One last feature that you need to know about PS3 is the availability of an online game store which allows you to buy games from the highly successful PS2 franchise.

Not only are the games cheaper, some of them are even better than the PS3 ones which are released recently. If you want a portable gaming device, you can go for the newly launched PS Vita.

  • Nintendo Wii

First of all, it is the cheapest gaming console you can get in the market. It is meant to provide a FUN experience for their users. Most of the game titles you can find in Wii are targeted at younger kids and family units.

In terms of hardware capabilities, the Wii is rather weak compared to the other 2 gaming machines, which is why the graphics are not so amazing. The unique feature that this console possesses is the motion controllers.

The console will follow the player’s movement and attempt to replicate it on the TV screen. This makes the game more exciting and adds a personal touch to it. Both SONY and Microsoft are coming up with ways to introduce this motion concept into their gaming devices after seeing Nintendo’s success.

Lately, Nintendo included several new features to their gaming machine to make it more appealing. The BBC iPlayer is one such feature which allows users who are big fans of BBC programmes to watch any programmes that they missed over the last few months through the internet. A similar feature can be found in PlayStation 3 though.

To conclude, the Wii is catered more for family occasions where there are more people who want to play. Besides providing a fun and relaxing gaming experience, it is the cheapest due to its limited hardware capabilities. For those who are looking for some serious and hours of gaming, PS3 is the way to go. Finally, the Xbox 360 is for a person who wants a balance of fun and serious gaming.
